      The Candidate Specification

We are recruiting for a 2nd Officer to join a busy private and charter yacht on a 2:2 rotation. We are looking for someone with strong seamanship, solid bridge knowledge and the confidence to take responsibility within a fast-paced programme.

Ideally, candidates will already have experience as a 2nd Officer, with at least one or two seasons onboard a yacht with an active programme. We are also open to strong 3rd Officers from larger vessels who are ready to progress. The successful candidate should be confident making decisions, using their initiative and remaining level-headed when working under pressure.

This is an operational and hands-on position. During charter, the role is approximately 70% deck and 30% bridge, moving closer to a 50/50 split during quieter periods. Responsibilities include sharing the watch, supporting safety procedures and SOPs, deck ordering and wider deck operations. Strong bridge skills are essential, with Transas ECDIS type-specific training required.

The yacht is currently in Greece before returning to Spain, where it will spend the winter, including a shipyard period in February and March. The successful candidate should be adaptable, keen to continue learning and comfortable taking on the level of responsibility that comes with the 2nd Officer position.

      • Required experience: Previous 2nd Officer experience preferred; strong 3rd Officers from larger yachts considered
      • Qualification: OOW 3000, Transas ECDIS type-specific, Designated Security Duties or SSO, STCW, ENG1
      • Required Visa: Schengen Visa (if applicable)
